Interesting Things Close from Shakujii Park

Sunday morning, I enjoyed a nice run to Shakujii Park.  This time, I found interesting things I never noticed before.

Entrance of Sanpoji Temple - this must be the origin of the name of Sanpoji Pond.

Hondo, or the main building of the temple.

A gate within the temple ground to another part.

"Imaginary animals" (elephant and lion) on the entrance gate.

A nice garden.

The bell structure - a pagoda is seen in the back.

An old farm house (originally built in late 19th Century) is now a museum.

It has a big "kayabuki" roof.

Itanoma - wooden floored room.

Great pine beams holding up the roof.

Large Tatami room that was used for many different functions.

Yamazakura - literally means mountain cherry.  They were still beautiful

A spring that provides water to Shakujii Pond.

Tennis courts by Shakujii Park.

Koinobori - Childrens' Day is just next week.

A nice plum blossom.

A Nice Run in Sendai

This morning, I enjoyed a nice run in Sendai.

Sakuragaoka Park - an area for Hanami - flowers were pretty much all gone.

A view of Hirosegawa River from a bridge by Nish Park.

A turret of the former castle.

The turret with an entrance gate (1925 photo).

The great stone wall of the former castle.

Photos of the damaged walls from the 2011 earthquake.

The view of the city of Sendai from the former castle ground.

The statue of Date Masamune, the great samurai lord looks down upon the city.

Shochuhi (昭忠碑) originally built in 1902 as a memorial for the war dead of Seinan War and Sino-Japanese War.

It used to have a big kite statue at the top but fell and damaged at the 2011 earthquake as seen in the below photos.

Benyland - an amusement park in Yagiyama area.

A beautiful shidare zakura by the park entrance.

A transmission tower of a local TV station.

Ran to Koganei Park for a Change

This morning, I ran to Koganei Park for a change.

On the way there, I ran partially along Senkawa River.

Many cherry blossom petals float on a pond.

In Koganei Park, saw this plum tree still had flowers.

Beautiful tulips.

A rare runner - by this time it was raining.

Dandelions.

Nobody in the field of Koganei Park due to the rain.

Beautiful flowers in the museum.

An old farm house in the museum.

I really got rained on today - got soaked wet.
